ARBITRATION (Issues & Sector/Industry)

Has issued about 900 labor arbitration awards involving the full range of issues arising in the employment relationship.  Cases have encompassed a large number of private sector entities, along with public sector entities involving clerical employees, courthouse personnel, custodians, firefighters, health care workers, highway and street department employees, librarians, nurses, police and other law enforcement personnel, professionals, public works employees, social workers, teachers and other school district personnel, technical employees, utility employees, and vocational district employees.

 

Serves on the labor arbitration panels for AT&T/IBEW Local 21; U.S. Customs and Border Protection/NTEU; Bridgestone-Firestone/United Steelworkers of America; Cook County Circuit Court/ AFSCME Local 3368; Social Security Administration/AFGE.

 

MEDIATION  Has mediated about 250-300 labor disputes, most of which have involved school districts, cities, counties, and other public entities.

 

FEE AND EXPENSE PRACTICE:  A per diem fee of $1,100 is charged for each 8-hour day of hearing, study, or writing.  The full per diem is charged for all hearing days.   More than one day’s per diem is charged and pro-rated where the day of hearing and travel extend beyond 5:00 p.m.  Study and writing which do not take a full day are pro-rated accordingly.  Travel which occurs outside the actual day of hearing is pro-rated at the per diem rate.  All travel expenses are billed from Madison, Wisconsin, address.  A cancellation fee of $550 is charged for each canceled or postponed case within 30 calendar days of hearing and $1,100 is charged for each case canceled or postponed within 7 calendar days of hearing. 

 

NOTE:  The arbitrator shall not charge any fee other than the above-stated fees.
