1997-present: Arbitrator in private practice. 2004-present, Lead External Consultant, ADR Center (Rome, Italy; the second largest dispute resolution firm in Europe). 1988-present, consultant in dispute resolution to universities, international organizations, foundations, nonprofits and state and federal agencies. 1990-2005, director of four successive national research and development programs in dispute resolution funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation (details at www.convenor.com)

 

Previous Employment: 1978-1997: mediator, arbitrator, hearing examiner at WERC (1991-96, director, dispute resolution program; 1985-88, coordinator, arbitration services.)  1973-78: field agent, NLRB (Region 7, Detroit.)

 

Sector/Industry: Over 1,500 cases as arbitrator, mediator, and hearing examiner since 1978. 300+ grievance awards issued, in a wide variety of industries and public sector employment. Awards on all common issues and many uncommon ones.

 

FEE AND EXPENSE PRACTICE:

Per diem:         $1000 per hearing day up to eight hours; prorated over eight hours or for separate travel; $500 per half day for writing.

Cancellation:    $500 if less than four weeks’ notice is received; $1000 if less than two weeks’ notice.

Expenses:        Actual lodging, meals and travel costs. Mileage at IRS rate. Postage, phone, typing and duplicating costs are charged if beyond the ordinary.

 

                    NOTE: The arbitrator shall not charge any fee other than the above stated fees.
