WERC Documents on WisBar Generally In partnership with the State Bar of Wisconsin, WERC has placed on the Bar's WisBar website separate databases of its decisions and of the grievance awards issued by WERC-employed arbitrators. Those documents can be viewed on-line, copied and pasted in plain text format, saved in HTML format or downloaded in native word processor format (earlier files in WordPerfect versions 5.0 or 5.1 for DOS and later files in Microsoft Word versions 7.0 or 97). The WisBar site permits searching of the entire respective decisions and grievance awards databases by use of the WisBar's search engine software. The WisBar site also has respective sets of indexes of decisions and grievance awards indexed by calendar year and within each calendar year by tribunal/arbitrator, employer/respondent, date of issuance, and decision number/award type number.

Cautionary Notes While every effort has been made to provide complete and accurate information, the decision and award files that are viewable and downloadable from the WisBar site may be incomplete or inaccurate in various respects. Those documents do not constitute information certified by WERC to be true and correct in all respects, and they are not official copies of the documents involved. The official copies of those documents are those on file in hard copy form at the Commission's Madison office. The HTML documents (i.e., the documents that are viewable on-line) have been reformatted in various respects as a result of their being converted from the native word processing files; however, efforts have been made to retain the substantive content of the original document to the fullest extent possible. The downloadable word processing files available on the WisBar site (by clicking the WP button near the top of the document file involved or at the end of a related index entry) are in either WordPerfect for DOS version 5.0 or 5.1 or in Microsoft Word version 7.0 or 97. (As variously noted on the WisBar site, those files have been compressed into self-executing compressed files to enable faster downloading. Executing or running the compressed file produces a copy of the native word processing file in uncompressed form on the same path as the .exe file was on when it was executed.) Except for those documents with page numbers appearing in the upper right-hand corner of the page as a part of the text itself, the pagination of the HTML and word processor format files cannot be relied on as entirely consistent with that in the original document.

The WisBar WERC Decisions Database Decisions issued by WERC and its examiners become public documents when issued. Such decisions issued with an explanatory accompanying memorandum since July of 1989 are searchable and indexed on the WisBar website. The database also includes related decisions of the Wisconsin Courts. The WisBar decisions divide the decisions in the database by calendar year and index each year's decisions by inverse date of issuance, tribunal/examiner, employer/respondent, and decision number. The indexes can be searched and navigated by use of your browser's Edit-Find function. In addition to the indexes, the entire WisBar WERC decisions database is searchable with the WisBar search engine software.
