How does WERC assure the timeliness and quality of its services?

Time Targets

WERC has established the following time targets for issuance of decisions/awards/drafts by its personnel in the various types of cases noted after the submission of final arguments and the receipt of transcript (if any):

examiner draft decision in representation election case 30 calendar days
Commission decision in representation election case 30 calendar days after receipt of examiner draft decision
examiner draft decision in unit clarification case 60 calendar days
Commission decision in unit clarification case 60 calendar days after receipt of examiner draft decision
examiner decision in complaint case 60 calendar days
Commission decision in complaint review case 45 calendar days
grievance arbitration award by WERC-employed arbitrators 90 calendar days
Commission decision in scope of bargaining declaratory ruling case 15 calendar days
Commission decision in Ch. 227, Stats., declaratory ruling case 30 calendar days
examiner draft in personnel appeal case 60 calendar days
Commission decision in personnel appeal case 90 calendar days
Commission decision in miscellaneous motion case 30 calendar days
personnel appeal arbitration award 10 calendar days

Inquiring About the Status of a Case

To inquire about the status of a case that has been assigned to a WERC commissioner or staff member, the inquiry should be directed to that individual. [WERC Staff Directory] Inquiries about the status of an interest arbitration or fact finding should be directed to the interest arbitrator or fact finder who has been appointed by WERC in the matter.
